« While painting I experiment the constant changing way of our mind developing towards wideness and deepness. The horizontal format fits to this type of enlargement of the conscious… »
In fact, before being in search of verticality, I need to explore the liquid, the steamy, the transparent and the opaque, the areas made of instability and ruptures… all the transformations due to the extension of time… »

Pascal Saini

The new works of the Geneva artist Pascal Saini are at the image of his intense quest in connection with time – the time of our life – and its relation with something more universal. The painter is questioning himself on each little event touching him. Attracted, intrigued by the emotional aspect that these small events arise in his reflection, these elements become for him an essential and inexhaustible source of inspiration. They also explain the complexity of his pictorial approach.

The artwork, in a permanent state of metamorphosis, is translated into a plurality of expressions. It is what Pascal Saini is in search philosophically in his work : create a link between very different things with one only and same person at the source.

Talented colorist, fine observer of nature, each blade of grass, each blow of wind, each movement of water, catch the attention of the artist and nourrish his envy to create. Working with various grounds, structures, contrasts, smooth or rich textures, superimposing the coates, the lines always redefined or respecified, the artist goes through a constant process of analysis.

The works of Pascal Saini, with rich breathings and declinations, cross over time, oscillating sometimes between a more spiritual and symbolist aspect, sometimes tinted with warm and incandescent sonorities evoking the jazz music – the artist was also a musician – a humus giving life to aquatic, wooded, green or flaming areas.

It is also the attractive series of Bretagne miniatures, painted with light glacis, sails floating with the wind, the strong character of an indented coastline, or the call for the open sea, painted on boat sail with its orange and impetuous movements, in parallel with solidly structured fields, putting rhythm into the colored areas. This set of works is another aspect giving evidence of the diversity of the registers at the disposal of the artist.

Pascal Saini lives and works in Geneva. Professor at the Art High School of Geneva until 2009. Member of Visarte. Numerous exhibitions in Switzerland, in particular in Geneva. From 1982 to 1994, Pascal Saini realizes mural paintings ordered by the State of Geneva and various municipalities (Lancy, Dardagny, Chancy)
